# Abstract

**deb0x protocol** aims to be a crypto community building environment that brings together like minded people who first and foremost value privacy, security, fairness & censorship resilience.

It is a pay it forward initiative intended to mark a clear shift from web2 to web3. The founding team's passion for privacy, decentralization, censorship resistance and community governed protocols was the inspiration that brought them together to build deb0x (decentralized inbox).

The goal is to offer an alternative to the current email (SMTP) protocol which is not secure and has so far led to vulnerabilities such as violation of private communications as well as censorship from certain centralized providers.
